dtek energy schoolsIn October, 55 city and village schools from eight oblasts of Ukraine joined the “Energy Efficient Schools” project being implemented by DTEK. As part of the project all middle-year school children (classes 6-8) will study lessons related to energy efficiency. During these lessons children will learn, among other things, how electricity and heat are produced, and what are the ways to save energy. Children will conduct an energy audit of their schools and, based on these results, they will develop projects aimed at decreasing the school’s energy and heat consumption. An educational course entitled “Fundamentals of Energy Efficiency” will be provided to children via special manual. They will also have a chance to visit school boiler rooms, plus local heat and power stations. More information (in Ukrainian) can be found here.
