On October 9, the Ekonomika Communication Hub and the Center for CSR Development will present the second season of their joint educational program entitled “CSR ACADEMY. Management of CSR projects”. During the presentation, participants will be informed about the program, its modules, and will also meet with program lecturers and previous graduates. System Capital Management and the daily newspaper Segodnya have announced the winners of a joint eco-project entitled “Let’s save energy!” The main aim of the project was to increase public awareness about the use of energy-saving technologies. The project, which ran until Sept. 10, 2013, was targeted at the newspaper’s readership, with readers asked to share ideas and developments on rational energy-saving measures at home. In September 2013, a special working group tasked with revising the draft of the national strategy to support the development of corporate social responsibility was established in the framework of the Coordination Council on civil society development under the President’s Administration. The working group consists of experts, representatives of business, NGOs, associations of employers and government officials. At present, three working group meetings have taken place. Over 24–25 September, 56 teachers from 20 schools of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhya oblasts took part in a seminar entitled “Fundamentals of heat and energy efficiency,” which was conducted by DTEK as a part of its “Energy efficient schools” project. At the end of September, Panasonic and the Klitschko Brothers Foundation announced the winners of the “Eco Ideas 2013” contest, which is part of an international contest entitled “Eco Picture Diary.” Approximately 300 schoolchildren aged six to twelve years old participated in the contest, which aimed to educate children on taking care of nature, promoting green culture and teaching children from a very early age about the importance of preserving and protecting the environment. Prykarpattyaoblenergo completed the first stage of its environmental initiative entitled “Batteries, give up!”. Over three months, the company installed recycling boxes in its central office and in company branch offices, eventually collecting 22kg of used batteries. All batteries were transferred to SE Argentum (Lviv) during a conference entitled “Utilization of chemical power sources”.

Microsoft Ukraine has announced the start of the national stage of its annual IMAGINE CUP contest for 2014. This year the contest will feature three categories: games, innovation and global society. We would like to remind our readers that participants (teams) typically develop and propose projects aimed at solving global problems in health care, environmental protection, education, access to technology and others. The winners of the national stage will participate in a semi-final of the global contest. This year’s contest is open to those who do not have any knowledge or experience in programming, with organizers conducting three special nomination sessions for such applicants.
